Located on the Boulevard de la Woluwe in Brussels, W34 is a sustainable project involving the conversion of an 8-floor office building into an apartment building of 68 residences and a space for tertiary businesses accommodated in part of the ground floor. The whole building presents, in ideal configuration, a variety of floor spaces: from studios to spacious penthouses, via a large duplex. Each of them has a spacious terrace in high quality materials. The particular feature of this project is its new outer skin cassette in aluminium and resin, a first in Belgium. The volumetric work of this new skin also contributes an undeniable asset to the project. These modifications in volume, with its verticals and horizontality, relieve the building of its monolithic appearance and enable it to be at one with its neighbouring built environment. This harmony is also emphasised by the demolition and reconstruction behind W34 of a building, which thus harmoniously encloses the block once again with the urban fabric of the district.
